Getting Started
How do I get my first appraisal?
Click on "Get an Appraisal" in the main menu, upload clear photos of your item from multiple angles, provide a detailed description, and submit. Our AI will analyze your item and provide an instant valuation.
What types of items can be appraised?
InstAppraisal specializes in antiques, collectibles, art, jewelry, coins, stamps, silver, furniture, vintage items, pottery, glassware, books, memorabilia, and more. Our AI is trained on millions of items across hundreds of categories. If it's collectible or has potential value, we can likely appraise it!
How accurate are the appraisals?
Our AI appraisals are typically accurate within 15-20% of actual market value for most items. We base our valuations on analysis of millions of recent sales from auction houses, online marketplaces, and dealer transactions. However, for insurance purposes, estate settlements, or legal matters, we recommend supplementing our AI appraisal with an in-person evaluation by a certified appraiser. Our appraisals are excellent for general knowledge, buying/selling decisions, and collection management.
What image formats are supported?
We support JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP image formats. Each image can be up to 10MB in size. For best results, use high-resolution images (at least 1024x768 pixels) in JPG or PNG format.
Is there a mobile app?
Currently, InstAppraisal is a web-based platform optimized for both desktop and mobile browsers. You can access all features through your mobile browser at instappraisal.com. We're considering developing dedicated iOS and Android apps based on user demand.
Appraisals
How long does an appraisal take?
AI appraisals are instant! As soon as you submit your photos and description, our AI analyzes your item and provides a detailed valuation report within seconds. There's no waiting period - you get immediate results 24/7.
How many photos should I upload?
We recommend uploading 3-6 photos for most items. Include: 1) Overall front view, 2) Back or reverse side, 3) Any signatures, marks, or labels, 4) Close-ups of important details or decorations, 5) Any damage or condition issues, 6) Something for scale reference. More complex items like furniture or paintings may benefit from additional angles.
Can I save my appraisals?
Yes, all appraisals are automatically saved to your account forever. You can access them anytime from your "My Appraisals" dashboard. Each appraisal can be downloaded as a professional PDF report, perfect for insurance documentation or resale purposes.
Can I export my appraisal reports?
Yes! Every appraisal can be exported as a professional PDF report. The PDF includes all photos, detailed description, valuation, comparable sales, and market analysis. These reports are suitable for insurance documentation, estate planning, or potential buyers.
What if I disagree with the appraisal?
If you believe the valuation is incorrect, first check that all item details and photos were clear and accurate. You can edit and resubmit for a new appraisal. Additionally, post in our community forums where expert collectors can provide second opinions. For high-value items, consider getting an in-person professional appraisal.
Can I upload multiple items?
Yes, but each item needs its own separate appraisal. Professional and Dealer plan members can upload items more quickly with our bulk upload feature. Free users can submit 3 appraisals per month, Hobbyist users get 30 per month, and Professional users get unlimited appraisals.
