tea set

Description

I have a set of bone china I believe that may be japanese.  It has a raise dragon that wraps around the tea cups and other pieces that appears to have been hand painted. They have gold around the lips and handles. the colors are greys, blue, white, green.  There is a mark on the bottom that reads:

TRADE MARKED USA  with either  VFM, FVM,MVF, OR VMF in the center, can not tell what order the letters are in.

I have the pot with a lid, creamer, sugar bowl and 6 cups and saucers.

I am trying to find the history and the worth of this set. Can you help me?

Your set is what's called Dragonware, it was made in Japan from the 1890's right through to the 1960's, your set is typical for examples made after WW2. It was made in huge numbers and brought back by American service men after WW2, Korea and Vietnam. Most full sets sell for under $200.00.

There is not a huge market for it, and values tend to be modest for it because of that. Currently on Ebay there is 345 listings for it. Here's a link to give you an idea.
