I have an 18k gold watch (Festina) that was bought in the 1970's from Spain that could no longer be repaired. What is a good ball park figure at the current rates this week?

Well, it all depends on the weight and how much of it actually is gold, you'll have to strip out all none gold  bits to get a true weight. As of this hour gold is trading at 1708.20 pr troy ounce. Here is a calculator for scrap gold:
