Antique (African or African-American?) hand-carved chest

Description

I am listing this for a friend.  It is a very old hand-carved chest of some sort.  It has been passed down through the family for a couple generations and I a told it dates back to slavery in America or just before that era.  As you see from the photos it has many intricate designs and images carved into it.  Solid wood from what I can tell when I looked at it.  It is 36" long x 18" wide x 20.5" high .
