Three Leg Chairs with Triangle Seat

Just picked these chairs up today because they were very interesting.  Was thinking of refinishing but would like to know the history on them, if any, before refinishing.  Any info is greatly appreciated.  They are made of wood, not sure the type, but would love to know.  They look to have the original vinyl seating.
