Wood was hand selected by original owner. Set is over 100 years old and was given to me almost 50 years ago. Excellent condition without scars or scratches. Beautiful set.

Re: Antique Bedroom Set
The suite does date from the turn of the 19th century, but isn't walnut. Based on what I can see it's "Poor Man's Oak", a false grain usually printed on light colored hardwoods such as Birch or Maple. Suites like this can be found in 1890's Montgomery-Ward Mail order catalogs. Suites like this were a big seller in the late 1980's through early 1990's, but demand and values has declined a great deal since then, comparable sets now often sell at auction for under $1000.00
