Description

My engraved rectangular gold hieroglyphic Egyptian cartouche necklace is from Galal Jewellery in the Bazaar of Khan El Khalili in Cairo, Egypt. I believe it is from the 1970s, and I am not sure if it is made of gold or only gold-plated silver. It is engraved with the hieroglyphics that spell "Susan".

Medium I am unsure. It appears to be gold, but it may be only gold-plated.
Distinguishing marks An engraving is on the side, but I cannot read it. It looks like numbers inside two tiny boxes.

Size and dimensions of this item Height: 1 1/2 Inches (including pendant loop). Width: 1/2 Inch. Chain: 18"
Date Period Probably 1970s or 80s
Weight Unknown
History It was bought at a bazaar in Cairo Egypt, and given to my sister in 2020.
Price Paid (If known) It was given. I am not sure how much the gifters bought it for.
