RARE AND SELDOM SEEN, ANTIQUE, SHINY FINISH IN DARK BLUE, WHITE & GILT GOLD THROUGHOUT, EMBOSSED HIEROGLYPH WRITINGS AND SYMBOLS, BIRD HEAD AND TAIL (POSSIBLY A VULTURE OR FALCON), FULLY OPERATIONAL, EGYPTIAN LAMP, PICTURED AND WRITTEN AT LAMPS BOTTOM IN GOLD PAINT IS AS FOLLOWS: #4873, ARDALT, EGITANTICO, ITALY. EGITANTICO MAY BE AN ABBREVIATION FOR "EGYPTIAN ANTIQUE COMPANY".
MY FIRST PHOTO IS THE FRONT OF LAMP. THE SECOND PHOTO IS THE REAR OR BACK OF LAMP.
IT MEASURES 34&1/2" HIGH (TO THE TOP OF THE FINIAL), 10&1/4" AT ITS WIDEST POINT AND 4&1/2" DEEP. IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO DINGS, CRACKS OR BROKEN PARTS. ITS GOLD GILT, WHAT APPEARS TO BE A HIGH GOLD KARAT PAINT CONTENT IS WORN. APPROXIMATELY 25% OF ITS GOLD HAS PARTIALLY WORN OFF. THIS VALUABLE LAMP IS WELL WORTH HAVING THE GOLD GILT RESTORED.
IT IS SUSPECTED THAT THE LAMPS BODY PORTION MAY HAVE BEEN USED FROM AN EGYPTIAN VASE AND MADE INTO A LAMP, SOMETIME PRIOR TO 1960.
THE NECK OF THE ELECTRIC PLUG IS WORN AT THE CONNECTION AND THE WIRE IS PARTIALLY EXPOSED. I HAVE ADDED GLUE TO PROTECT IT. CAUTION SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN HANDLING THE ELECTRIC CORD, AS IT MAY CAUSE AN ELECTRIC SHORT-CIRCUIT.
ALL-IN-ALL, IT IS STILL FULLY OPERATIONAL AND COMES WITH A 3-WAY SWITCH FOR BULB LIGHT SETTING.
LOOKING TO SELL OR AUCTION.
