Singer is without a doubt the most famous of the North American sewing machine makers. Starting from a humble machine shop in the 1850's the company grew to produce over a million machines by the early 1870's. While these machines are nostalgic items, few except for the Singer "Featherweight" models sell for more than $100.00 in unrestored condition.
