Re: Antique American Curved Glass Bookcase Secretary c1860
We have the exact same secretary, and family history with it , as you do and when my grandmother passed away there was an arguement about what is was worth and who should get it . So we had it appraised and it was valued around $3500.00, that was 11 years ago.My advice would be to get it appraised , and have some papperwork to back it up , or you may not get its true value
Re: Antique American Curved Glass Bookcase Secretary c1860
Well for one thing it doesn't date from 1860, and it's not rare. These were mass produced at the turn of the 19th Century, and were a staple of the Antique trade up to the late 1990's. Demand for them and value has dropped considerably since then, these often sell for under $1500.00 in today's market.
