Freeman Leidy was a California Pottery that began operations in 1944 in Laguna Beach, then home to about 65 different pottery companies. California was home to several potteries that thrived during World War Two due to the blockage of imports from Europe and Japan (1939-45). Many survived into the 1950's when much cheaper Japanese imports flooded the market. Freeman-Leidy managed to survive into the mid 1950's. Freeman- Leidy was best known for it's birds often made in pairs. In the current market comparable Freemn- Leidy pieces to yours would sell in the $100.00- $175.00 range. ( for the pair)
