Accurate Description of Item
One early 20th Century Swan Bowl, unmarked
Appraiser Remarks
Based on what I can see this piece dates from the first quarter of thr 20th Century and is most likely silverplated rather than Sterling. As a general rule by International conventions most items made of precious metals such as silver, and gold will bear markings to indicate their silver content, either with a series of stamps or a number such as "925" ( 92.5% silver) or "800" (80% silver) Silverplate will show a positive test for silver if you apply acid directly on to it. You must make a scratch in the piece so you are below the plating before you can apply your acid.
I'd suggest testing this piece retested with a good scratch on the base, if it's silver it's worth about what you paid for it, if it's silverplated it's only worth about $10.00 -$20.00. The values below are for a Sterling silver example.
Estimated Value
$50.00- $85.00
