giltwood mirror with a picture of the Huntress.

Category
General Antiques and Collectibles
Condition
Good
Description

I purchased this giltwood mirror a couple of weeks ago at a flea market. It has a picture of a woman holding a bow and arrow, at the top center of the mirror. She is surrounded by roses and leaves carved into the gilding.

When I got it home I took a closer look and I think I may have a pretty old piece. There are remenants of paper/backing around the frame that I think used to cover the mirror. It is very dark and brittle. I hardly touched a piece of it and it snapped right off. What I assume is the replacement covering over the mirror, is very soft as well. When I finally got the cover removed without destroying it, I found a couple of stamps on it reading "Century Mirror Corp" It also says "silvered______" but there is no information filled out on the provided line. close to the bottom of the mirror there is a date stamp of  "Dec 13 1939"

I am thinking the original mirror had been broken,  which was why there is remenants of the brittle paper on the framework. Then Century replaced it in 39. there are two phillips head screws that have been used on the frame to secure a rope to the back for hanging. Unfortunately, the person who did this did not take screw length into consideration, so there are a couple of small holes through the front of the frame.

If anyone can tell me what I have here I would sure appreciate it. I wish I knew more about these so I could be more descriptive.

Thanks,

Tiny Ceramic Houses **Collection**

Category
Ceramics and Porcelains
Condition
Excellent
Description

I honestly don't know much about these little figurines. I have been collecting them since the early 90's and they have a stamp on the bottom of each one saying Wong Sin Te International Trading INO. While I cannot find anything online regarding this company, I have also not come across any pictures of figurines that look like these. They have great detail put into each one and they really are quite remarkable. They appear to be hand painted and I am told they are from the 1960's.
