Library Card Catalogue

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Excellent
Description

3 tier card catalogue.   Top section is solid wood and has matching pull out shelves to write notes on.

Bottom 2 tiers are wood with metal and plastic drawers with wood fronts.

I obtained it from a medical library that was closing down and moving, as the medical school had been purchased by a larger university.   The librarians didn't know much about it, but knew the top section at least was old--early 20th century they thought.   It's in realy nice shape.  Most of the card guides are still in place and all the handles are there.  Wood is in very nice shape.

Set of 6 dining room chairs, carved, 1800s?, British

Category
European Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

These are a set of 6 chairs that my parents purchased in Yorkshire England in the early 1970s.  They came with horribly abused upholstery, so they stripped them of it, then never bothered to get them recovered.   They carted them around for years and then passed them along to me when they got divorced.  I haven't had a chance to cover them either, as I've never realy had a place to put them if they were covered.  And now, my dining room cannot accomodate them.  I think they're lovely, but I just don't have a spot for them so I'd really like to sell them.   I don't know much about them at all.  My father, who knew antiques, has passed away.   So I wish I could provide more details, but I can't.  Hopefully the pictures will speak for them.

Note: one of the chairs came unglued and just needs to be put back together.  I haven't done so, figuring it was a job best left to a professional for when they get upholstered.   I have listed them in "good" condition, because of the lack of seats and the condition of the one.  But otherwise, the wood is in really nice shape--no scratches or nicks.

Alabaster relief plaques, 1800s, British

Category
Decorative Arts
Condition
Excellent
Description

2 plaques, one featuring The Trial of Mary Queen of Scots, the Other Queen Elizabeth Smiting Essex, Numbers 124 and 125 from a set of I don't know how many.  Purchased by my parents in Yorkshire England in the early 1970s.   Both have a carved black frame.  One has a crack through the middle which disappears when it is hanging--I believe it has always had this, as there is a very old repair made to the frame to make the relief fit into it tighter.    I believe they were carved sometime in the 19th century, but I'm not sure about details.

Curious as to value as I'm interested in selling them.

Joichi Hoshi Artwork

Category
Asian Art
Condition
Good
Description

I recently bought a Joichi Hoshi painting/print (can not tell because do not want to remove frame) and was wondering about its authenticity and auction price. As far as I know, it is still in the original frame and was previously auctioned by Kanda's Gallery B.O.Q in Tokyo.
