LARGE OLD BURLWOOD BOWL?

Category
General Antiques and Collectibles
Description

I have a large oblong wooden bowl, looks like a baby bathtub, but it's not.  I believe it is "burlwood".  i found this in the basement of a very old house I purchased, hanging on the wall.  There is a notch on one side, maybe for pouring?,,, It is obvious it was used much, and valued by the family, as it has a crack that was obviouslt repaired by hand made thin metal "clips" or "staples".  Many  valuable things were in the home, but none hung with care like this item.  This has a flar bottom, and is shaped much like an old bathtub, but is approx. 12" deep and 1.5-2 foot long at the rim, and 14 or so inches wide.

Octagonal nut&bolt hardwhare store piece

Category
Other
Condition
Fair
Description

Starting with its rotating octagonal top piece....It measures 40in or 3ft 4in tall. On each of its 8 sides there are 12 tryangle shaped drawers that measure 2 3/4 in tall, 8 3/4 in wide, and 8 1/4 in deep from face to tip. The very top serface of the hexagonal piece measures 25 in accross (not from point to point). Each of the drawers is kept from being pulled out compoletely by a small pin or nail which sticks down a half an inch or so into the drawer from the piece of wood that separates it from the drower above.

The base of this piece is much simpler...it is 15in high and 31in or 2ft 7in wide(it is square). It has drawers on two opposing sides(3 accross and 3 down for a total of 9 drawers on each side). those drawers measure 4in tall, 8 1/2in wide, and 11 1/2in deep. This square base piece also has a large metal pole starting at its base and going up thru its top and it reaches a hight of 3ft 2in or 38in from the top of the square bace piece. this pole is what sticks up thru the center of the octagonal piece and holds it from the bottom of the top bord and alowes it to rotate.....(sorry if thats really confusing and dry and boring )

Well those are the boring measurements..as for its condition...its very warn, especially the square bace piece, probly from many long years of use. a couple of the white porcelin knobs are missing and some are chipped. I dont think the blue paint is original but its very old and cracking off ,but it gives the whole piece a real antique look. all the drawers are in good shape except for one(it has a good inch or so cracked off its side but you cant see it unless it is open). on the top of the square base there isnt much paint left and it looks like a bit of an oil stain on part of it. the inside of some of the drawers are stained from old oily bolts or whatever was in them.

i am very interested if there is a market for this and if it would increase or decrease its value if i were to restore it...thank you for your help and opinians !!!
