I have a set of Enoch Wedgewood Countryside China that my Mom gave me on my 16th Christmas...I would like to give it to my granddaughter this year for Christmas for her 16th...I would like to know what it is worth. It is a set for 8 consisting of Dinner plates, bread and butter plates, cup w/saucer, fruit/dessert bowl. These dishes have never been used and are in mint condition.
We picked up this piece at an antique shop; the tag didn't have the exact year of manufacture, just "c. 1940s". The piece matches many other Duncan Phyfe buffets we've found online, but we haven't found an exact match.
The buffet is made of mahogany. The top is 1/8" or possibly 5/64th" mahogany veneer in one piece. It is finished in a red mahogany satin finish.
Drawers are dovetailed and dovetails are irregular sizes.
The doors latch on little metal pegs that are spring-loaded so they move up and down as the door is pulled or pushed.
The legs are tapered, turned & carved.
The back is stamped with this stamp: 04-HDF-1096-3643 MAH-BUFFET.
Would like estimated value and approximate year of manufacture.
