I don't know much about this but, it has been in the family for about 40 years. It is a wardrobe converted to a hutch with shelves. Still has hanging pole and mirrors inside door.
This was purchased through a thrift peddler and recognized by my Japanes friend as a "gumbai" or sumo wrestling referee paddle. She thought it was very old given that it's made out of wood. I would love to know how old and what it's worth.
I have taken this doll into a doll store and was told she couldn't find alot of information off hane.. ( 5 min) she stated that was probably used as display model in late 60's ... advised me to hang onto it until I knew haow much it was worth.
The doll is made hard plastic and sits in a highchair made out of thin metal pieces. with vinyl blue cover. when plugged in the doll will tip the bottle to her mouth, tilt her head back and drink bottle, her eyes will shut when head back and open when sitting up. Appears to be a skewer or something that is making doll movable. She has holes drilled in her to allow for the power source.
arms, hands, legs and head are moveable.. oi noticed what I belief are markings of some sort on her top inner thigh/stomach area... was told they were bubbbles in the plastic, and were nothing. I swear i still can see the letters DOBB..
I bought this at a goodwill, and at the time there was a old water spotted paper taped to bottom that said, Happy birthday sis.. from ME 1935...... Not for sure that paper was relly written then... Anyways this is in rather great shape. It is stamped twice, once on bottom and then once inside the lid of vanity. On vanityh looks like somethin was there, (possible mirror) but was not when I purchased. Would like help to figure this one out, not sure if it was a jewelry holder, or sugar dish.. NO iDEA.. thanks, Kathy
