This doll was found in my Grandmothers' estate. It is Very old, and Very unusual. Someone made this doll back when the blacks and whites were not equal, blacks were slaves, so I'm guessing this type of doll was made special. I have never seen one like it ever. I can remember my grandmother displaying it at her home saying that this doll was so special that noone dare to have one. She had it, so I wondered why she would say that.
My Grandmother also pointed out the fact that it was one of just a few that were made, but wasn't sure who made it. There are no markings on it from what I can see.
If anyone can give me a value on this special doll, and a round about date in which it was produced, please do so. I would be willing to sell at right price.
This is a Very Old doll. As far as I know, the clothes are original. It is a Pinnaccio Doll which belonged to my Great Grandmother. I am 53 yrs. old if that says anything about the age of the doll. The doll was passed down to my grandmother, then to my mother, then to me. Looks to be on the left side of doll where leg goes in, that it works with the arm. Can't really tell. If you move the leg, the arm also tries to move. Doesn't really move that well.
This doll has some cracks in it from aging I suppose. Can anyone give me any information on the date of the doll, and possibly what it may be valued at? I may be willing to sell if the price is right.
I had an antique dealer locally look at it, but don't trust what he had to say. Wanted to offer me 3000.00 for it, so I knew I had to post it here.
I'm new to Nippon (and all antiques for that matter) but am eager to learn! I picked this up for a great price at a local shop that is going out of business. I planned on doing my research to find out what it was when I arrived home & am not having any luck. ANY input is SOOOO appreciated! Thanks!
Large Vintage or Antique Coil Basket with lid. Lid has Star design on it with 8 Points. The basket has several Dark Triangles upsidown mirrored. Snake Diamond Design? I believe it was purchased California in the 1970's.
