"Before the Wedding" by Konstantin Makovsky 1887

Category
Paintings
Condition
Excellent
Description

I bought this print on the estate sale.  Though, I am not expert, I belive that this is print, because of a very smooth surface.  Size: 38" x 29". It is signed and dated.

Based on the information that I found this is reproduction of the very famous painting by Makovsky dated 1884 / 1887.  The following is information that I found about painting and artist:

This painting illustrates ancient Russian wedding rituals and traditions.  It depicts one of the most important social and political events of old Russia, a wedding uniting two families of the powerful boyar class that dominated Muscovite politics in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Konstantin Yegorovich Makovsky (Russian: Константин Егорович Маковский; June 20 [O.S. July 2] 1839 —September 17 [O.S. September 30] 1915) was an influential Russian painter, affiliated with the "Peredvizhniki (Wanderers)". Many of his historical paintings, such as The Russian Bride's Attire (1889), showed an idealized view of Russian life of prior centuries.  He is often considered a representative of a Salon art.  In the 1880s Makovsky became a fashioned author of portraits and historical paintings. At the World's Fair of 1889 in Paris he received the Large Gold Medal for his paintings Death of Ivan the Terrible, The Judgement of Paris, and Demon and Tamara.  He was one of the most highly appreciated and highly paid Russian artists of the time.  "Before the Wedding" was considered among one of Makovsky best creations.

Please advise what value this print might have, if any?

Thank you,

Victorian era painting; Women with Children at the Lake 1892

Category
Paintings
Condition
Excellent
Description

I bought this painting on the estate sale.  I am not sure whether it is original or reproduction.  The surface of the painting is rough (not smooth).  Painting is signed and dated 92.  Please see 2nd picture.  People in the painting have Victorian era clothing.  Therefore, it seems that 92 next to signature represent 1892.  Painting is in a good condition, measures with frame 16 x 14 1/2.  Could you please advise on whether this painting has any value?  Who is the artist based on the signature?  Thank you.
