I am looking for information and value on a pair of hand painted, urn shaped, porcelain lamps, that have been in my family for several generations. They would have been purchased in New York City. The date of purchase is where I'm a little hazy. They were either purchased between 1898 and 1906 when my great grandparents came to America, or it's possible that they were a wedding gift to my grandparents when they married in 1923.
The lamps stand 36 inches from base to top of finial. They sit on a pierced metal base and the cherubs holding up one of the urns are an unknown metal. The lamp with the scene (that runs completely around the lamp) is signed by the artist. The name is Rue or perhaps Rere or Rire (I can't tell)
I have the Royal Manor Porcelian "The California Gold Rush" plate from How the west was won collection. In the original box with the certificate of authenticity. Any idea how much it is worth?
I am needing an appraisal for these two beautiful candle holders. Each candleholder has beautiful hand painted scenes on a white porcelain bulb that is in the middle of the brass(or metal) parts. There are four different painted scenes. There are brass cherub heads on both sides of each holder. The tops and bottoms have colored enameled designs on them. They have quite unusual bottoms or "feet". Not sure, but perhaps they were attached to something much larger originally and maybe not, I just don't know. I did not think to get a picture of the bottoms, but they have six stems that they sit on. The painted scenes are a seated lady, another seated lady with a cherub next to her. She is holding a harp and the cherub is holding it's Halo. On the backside of one holder there is a painting of a gazebo with trees around it. On the other, there is a painting of some broken columns, also with trees around it. They are marked on the painted areas. It is a bit difficult to decipher, but I believe it says "le franc".
They can be for sale, I just don't have them on ebay or anywhere else at this time.
Pair of antique pewter candle holders. They are about 9 1/2" tall. They have three levels or bowls, with the bottom being the largest(about 6" diameter). The center bowl is 3 1/2" diameter and the top bowl is 2 7/8" diameter. There is a spike in the top bowl and this top bowl is about 1 1/4" deep to catch the drippings. There is a handle that is attached to the top and middle bowls. At the top of the handle there is a ball on a stalk that was most likely to hold a snuffer. I do not have any snuffers with these, just the two candle holders. They are marked on the bottom with an impressed mark of an oval that has what looks like a crown on top of it. Inside the oval there is a castle with a flag flying on the top. On either side of the flag there are the letters "F" and "B". That is about all I know about them except that they need some straightening since the soft pewter is somewhat bendable, but I'm sure they can be bent back into shape. Other than that, they could use some cleaning which I have left undone.
