i'd like some help with this amazing birdcage. I found a similar one online (at 1stdibs.com) selling for $8800.00. Can anyone help me determine whether this is an antique or a replica? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is a buffet cabinet with a drop down bar in the middle. As you pull the handle the front drops down (becomes a shelf) and the top raises on hinges revealing a mirrored back and shelf bordered in a red detailed leaf pattern. There is a siver rail on the shelf and hardware attached to the top for bar tools. There is also the original light & bulb, although it doesn't work anymore. A door on both sides conceals a shelf (one shelf has a tag reading 'SUNDRIES' and the other with 'LINEN'.) There are 3 drawers in the middle of the cabinet, the two top slightly smaller than the bottom one.
There are some scratches on this piece, some made recently (much to my horror) when the delivery men brought it into my house. Could do with some TLC if worth the restoration price. Which would be useful to have advice about if also available :)
The Heron Son crest with the NRY i have deciphered as being Henry Ronson, but i am not able to find very much information about him or his furniture business - everything about the Ronson family is relating to his son Gerald & Heron International!! Very frustrating. If anybody could shed some light upon this piece of furniture, and the maker/distributer, and also a valuation, i would be most grateful!! :)
Keystone Deluxe 505 Sewing machine. The sewing machine has the orignal owners manual along with the orignal accessories. There are also a few dress patters from the 50's. Everything works on the machine including the foot pedal.
I have 2 trophies which appear to be made of some type of silver. They each are stamped on the bottom with "The Middletown Silver Co., Middletown, Conn". Both also are stamped on the bottom with "118 1/2". Both are approximately 5-1/4"h x 2-3/4" dia. One of them says "Norwood Hospital Day, 1913, Cut Flowers". The other one says "Norwood Hospital Day, 1913, Asters". My mom told me that they were won by my father's grandfather in Norwood , MA. He was a caretaker for the hospital. Can anything be told about them from this information??
I BOUGHT 6 OF THESE AT AN ESTATE SALE IN GERMANY YEARS AGO. THEY CAME WITH A DOCUMENT THAT CLAIMS TO AUTHENTICATE THAT THESE CAME FROM HITLERS PERSONAL HOUSEHOLD AND HAS HIS SIGNATURE.
