Beautiful Table (center leaf folds in)

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Excellent
Description

We acquired this beautiful table and 4 matching chairs at a local household sale for $100.

Table is of most interest to us, but chairs have same detail.  Chair seats are covered in red vinyl.  Chairs not available for picture.

Center table leaf folds and drops in below table.  There is a pull-ring mechanism to open table to access leaf.  All works great.

Draw Leaf Dining Table and 4 chairs

Category
Furniture
Condition
Fair
Description

It's a small wooden dining table with 4 matching chairs.  The table seems to be Spanish Colonial style or Spanish Revival (from my limited knowledge of the styles).  It has a trestle base and two side leafs that slide out and up and to mate with the top.

It has a painted fruit and leaf design along the trestle and an inlay on top.  The inlay seems to be made of a softer wood and it has an orange and red brick design with two yellow square designs and two yellow swastikas.

The chairs are wood with a criss-cross leather strap seat.  The straps are held in place with metal bolts and supported by thick bands of elastic. The same design that is on the table's trestle is also painted on the top rail of the chairs.

There is a small piece of a sticker on the underside of the table.  The sticker looks to have been triangular.  "Grand Rapids, MI" is easily discernible. There is also part of a stock number and a signature.

The table itself is in decent condition.  There are spots in which the finish is worn. And there are about 5 small pinholes in the inlay - my father took a pencil to it when he was a kid.  The chairs are also in decent condition with the exception of the leather straps that have dried out, split and are falling off.
