Looking for any information on the cup and saucer. Gold hand painted leaf pattern. Hand painted Italy with the number 7609 on the back. Would like to know if any value and its origin.
It was a recording by Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra, double sided 10" disk, originally recorded in 1925 and 1926. This guy evidently has recorded more music than any other artist known in history. He held several key positions with several big name record labels and is estimated to have been involved in thousands of recordings resulting in over 50 million record sales. He received at least one Grammy that I am aware of, maybe more. Just curious if this is worth anything.
this record on the Columbia label was a "special record, for radio stations, not for sale" Hopefully I won't be in trouble if I try and sell it, or for having bought it, considering how long ago it was probably used. if anyone knows anything about that, lemme know. Don't want to break the law. This recording was listed as 39976 CO 48875 and CO 48876, whatever that means. must be an identifier of some kind, finding it on every recording I have purchased. There is also a label stuck on one side of the recording which says "Steven Mara RA19512857. Again, not sure what that is. I kinda assume that is the DJ who was in receipt of the record, but unsure. I do know that Helen Ward had a short initial career, which began with Benny Goodman. He was evidently going to propose to her after a romance, but changed his mind because of his career. She then married someone else and retired for a time. This record appears to be one prior to retirement. She is known as one of the foremost female "swing" singers of her day (the female swing jazz singers were known as "chirps") . Very curious as to whether or not the "special record" aspect of this recording increases, decreases or does not effect it's value, and what that value is.
This is a 1928 Orthophonic Recording on the Victor Label made for the Victor Talking Machine Co. I am not an expert on old records, but I think it is vinyl, it's really thick, and it appears to be in good condition, no noticable scratches. it is kinda dirty, but I was afraid to clean it as I am not sure of the proper way to do so.
