I found a Foo Lion that I questions about about .It stands about 2 feet tall and looks to be made of terracotta and is very heavy. The glazing is a jade green with alot of accent colors. I could not find any markings on it but It looks old.
This piece is light green, very heavy and it looks as if it was hand carved.
The round ball at the top rotates. It is held in place with a hand carved jade type peg at the top and a metal type peg on the bottom. There are carved dragons and what looks like a womans blank face with blazing hair or a blazing sun
The base has a 2 1/2" opening for the top to fit into. The opening is about 1 1/2" deep. The inside is not polished. It has a finely carved dragon head on bothe sides, two round rings and 3 feet with a bushy eyebrowed animal on each one
The condition is good, but there are a few chips on the bottom base.
If you tap the two pieces together it sounds almost like 2 drumsticks hitting each other.
It looks like there is a rough pontil on the bottom of the top piece in a rectangular shape and one on the base that looks like it was polished
I found this SHAW WALKER Cabinet in my basement when i purchased my home. I am curious to know what it's worth and if I should have it restored to sell it or just sell as-is?
It's actually in pretty good condition, I just have to give it good cleaning.
Also, if you know what kind of wood it is, when it was made, what it was used for...I'd love that info too.
My husband bought this at a garage sale. One of the chairs legs needs repair. Three of the other chairs cusions need to be repaired. He and his ex wife refinished it to it's original light wood. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is made from. He has listed this item on Craigs List.
This pitcher was handed down from my great grandfather's family to me. I am curious as to its origins and age. His family descended from early immigrants from the Alsace region of Germany who came in the 1700s to America.
