We found what we think is a silver gravy bowl in an old house that my husband was
remodeling. It is for sure pure silver. It has scallops on bowl and decor on edge of plate/boat. On the bottom it says International Silver Co and has the numbers 01195 underneath. In a very small square next to the numbers is the number 62.
According to my research, Victor Silver Company was established in 1872 and was a division of the Derby Silver Company in Connecticut. On the bottom of the piece, is an etched unicorn along with with words "quadruple plate". The Victor Silver Co. stopped making quadruple plated silver in 1912, so this piece was made before that time. There are four arms that twist out at about 90 degree angles and then twist upward to hold the candle.
Rustic, barn-red 2 story house set in winter. Snow on rooftops. Next to the house is a wooden barn/building with a lean-to. In front of the house is (from left) a wooden crate, wheel, barrel and wooden wagon. Signed in lower right by H. Hargrove.
