ANTIQUE Chauvaux, Sen Gilded Porcelain Figure Vase

Category
Ceramics and Porcelains
Condition
Fair
Description

This tall, two handled vase/ ewer is beautifully decorated with lovely, detailed romantic figures depicted in scenes of beautifully coiffed couples of a long bygone era engaged in courtship with musical instruments. The colors are rich and beautiful. The figures are also depicted around the base. The entire vessel is gilded with gilded handles. This very old piece is in fair condition, but does have a hairline crack around the center portion of one side of the vase as shown in the picture. This has not been repaired. Additionally, there is a repair to one of the handles which does appear to have been professionally done.

ANTIQUE UNIQUE ROCKING CHAIRS

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Excellent
Description

a chairmaker in Bayou La Batre, AL. was contracted to build 200 rocking chairs to line the front porch of "The Mobile Infirmary" The way I remember the story the man who made these chairs died right after or in the middle of his 200 chair contract. these (2)chairs have been in the family since the infirmary went through one of its many rebuilds over the years. their are archived photos which show the chairs on the front porch. ( somewhere ). I believe the University of South Alabama has them. I grew up sitting in these and after the passing of my parents i ended up with them. Reid Goldsby was the person who got the two chairs I have from the Infirmary (step Grandfather) I am very interested in knowing an apx. value of these chairs
