It has a small amout of wood rot right along the bottom, It has no bottom and appears to be sycamore or cottonwood. I don't no if this a rare item or collectable, but it is cool. Could be cut down to a coffee table, with a display inside and glass top, or a huge drum
It is white porcelain (yellowish now) with a short pedestal base and fading gold paint. There is a inner lid and a vented cover, also with fading gold paint. the holes in the cover are diamond shaped and look to have been hand made cause they're not exactly the same. The outer part has hand painted green with lots of browning (as if it were dying) three leaved foliage vines. Inside has a hand wrote recipe by Ella Mae Tucker from Marion ville Mo. for making a rose jar or potpourri, also known as "Beaux Catcher." At the end it says "a rose jar made this way 32 yrs. ago is still fragrant. It sill has the potpourri too! if its the original stuff....
