It is a porcelain Capodimonte lamp base with a man playing the harpsichord and a woman playing a lute. There is a Benrose stamp on the underneath of the lamp base that says made in Italy. There are a few chips and a crack on the right side. Please see attached pictures.
Their story goes that this statuette was found buried at a depth of 5' while digging a gas pipeline. The statue is in excellent condition, other than a chip on the arm from being dug up. It is terracotta, and from others I've seen online, appears to be from the 100-250 B.C. time period. The paint/markings are intact, and is the only one I've seen with a headdress.I have never seen anything like it, want to know if is authentic, and an approx. value.
This is what I believe is called a Capodimonte lamp base made in Italy. It is a woman playing the harp and a man playing the violin with a cherub in the front holding a music scroll. I have 2 of them and they are both in excellent condition. There is a silver sticker on the front of one of them thats says Azzolin Brothers. I have attached pictures.
