Empire Works Bowl

Category
Ceramics and Porcelains
Condition
Fair
Description

I have a bowl stamped

EMPIRE WORKS
E P Co
STOKE-ON-TRENT
R.

It is the 1896-1912 Stamp (found the mark at thepotteries.org).

The bowl is white with a blue band around the middle of the body. The band is bordered by gold with other gold bands amongst the white. The pattern is floral throughout - white flowers on the blue and gold flowers on the white.

The rim of the bowl is brass and has a stamp {A.R.M} and below that R.P.N.M (The second letter might be an A and the last may be an N.). It is marked 917/1558. Not chipped but glaze has fine crack pattern.

Passed down through a relative so interseted in history and value.

Thanks

David

1956 Baldwin Hamilton Baby Grand Piano

Category
Music and Music Instruments
Condition
Excellent
Description

I have recently inherited a piano from my mom, who passed away over the summer. Upon researching the serial number (128-578) from Baldwin Company's home website, it looks like it was manufactured in 1956. It was given to my parents as a wedding present and has remained in one spot in the house since that time.

As you can tell from the photos, it is in excellent condition. It has been tuned fairly regularly over the years. Looking at the different types of pianos that Baldwin offered, I assume it is walnut with a semi gloss finish. I believe it is 5'3" in length. I would be interested in its fair market value for insurance and possible sale purposes.

thank you
