I purchased this from my job. It is in excellent condition however it is sitting in a dirty basment right now and needs to be cleaned and oiled. It has claw feet and stained glass in the upper compartment of the cabinet. It has brass key holes and a carving on the bottom that is a T & L combined as one. See picture.
I need to know if this is an antique and worth getting appraised.
I purchased this at a habitat for humanity restore in Downtown Charleston, SC. It was priced for 175 usd but since we have donated several items they sold it to us for 60 usd. I really have NO clue about it at all.
The chest in pretty worn condition, there is several places when someone repaired it. I've started my own repair on it and plan on restoring it to as close to original as possible. Also the backs of several of the trim boards are rough cut.
I do believe its from the late 1800's.
I've also uploaded the larger pics to my website, visit http://www.angelforce.net/images/chest/ click on any of the .jpg files to view a 4000 x 3000 px HD photo of the chest
I'm not looking to sell the chest, I plan of fixing it and give it to my daughter. I just want some info about it, maybe some leads that could help me get more info on it.
