Harvey House Restaurant Counter Chairs

Category
Other
Condition
Good
Description

I have done some research on the internet and have links to photos of these seats in Harvey Houses; one photo is from the Fray Marcos Hotel Harvey House in Williams, AZ:

http://harvey.library.arizona.edu/finding_aid/1az/11/1-11-29.html

the second is from a Harvey Girls website but the photo does not give a location:

http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/harvey_history.html

I have attached a photo of one of the chairs, there are a total of four.  The pedestals appear to be iron and my uncle had spray painted them black.  The seats themselves may be bronze, I will leave that to you viewers.  I love the little pins on the pedestals, which I assume were for your hat.

Would appreciate any opinions on these.  I have enjoyed what I have learned about Fred Harvey, his restaurants and the Harvey Girls...I even caught the movie musical "Harvey Girls" starring Judy Garland on TV!

Thanks!!

Paintings
Condition
Excellent
Description

Painting is sign in right front corner,  Vernon Smith PWA 1934, there is a metal tag on the front center the reads: Public Works of Art Project, on the back of the painting the is a paper tag that has the following on it: Public Works of Art Project #168 Treasury Department .  Artist: Vernon Smith Region: 1 Oil, Title: The Sea Captain's House                            Disposition: Hon John J. Davis Date: 5/18/34 Room: 112 House Office Bldg. THIS PICTURE IS THE PROPERTY OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT

The painting was given to my Mother and Father as a wedding gift from then Senator Frank Boykin(Ala) along with several other items. There is little I could find out about the artist, a short bio that said he was a Regional Director of the Massachesett Federal Arts Project and was from Orleans, Ma. Also pulled up an article (Robbins Report-Your Art is Gone) in The Capcod Today newspaper dated: )03/03/08 It seems he was a well Knowned artist in that area.
