this is the clasp on a chain i acquired and i can not find out who it is that the signature represents.

 This is a pair of pierced earrings that "dangle" a beautiful stone. I am trying to determine what the stone is. I was thinking Garnet, but would love some input. it has a beautiful purple color when the camera flash hits it.
