1800's Antique Doll

By [email protected], 30 April, 2010
Description

This doll has a porcelain head and hands. The legs appear to be made out of leather. All the clothing is original. I'm trying to find out exactly how old the doll is and who the dollmaker is.

Re: 1800's Antique Doll

Your doll is what's called a "Low Brow" , Low Brow china dolls are the most numerous, made in the millions in the 1890's, getting their name from their hairdo, has which bangs and lays low on their forehead, giving them a "low brow". In the current market values depend on size condition and costume, but most comparable examples to yours sell in the $100.00 - $145.00 range.
