Description

I was told this chair could be 18th century. Its very heavy has a lot of wear on the bottom rung, many nail holes from reupholstery and  the turnings have slight variations between them. Any Ideas as to its origin, age, type of wood and style? It does have springs but I was told they were  possibly a later addition.

From the look of it I doubt it predates the 1890's, similar chairs were made through the 1920's. During that period there were a series of Revival styles based on 16th through 18th Century furniture.
