40 year old Schwinn Stingray Bicycle

Profile picture for user poetknowit

Description

My father is interested in getting an appraisal to sell.    This is a 40 year old Schwinn bike.  All though it isn't in mint condition, it does ride and has original parts.   The color is light orange with a gold banana seat that is also original.

Re: 40 year old Schwinn Stingray Bicycle

Sorry to say that this is one of those instances of "just because it is old (1964) and a Schwinn it doesn't mean high value".

The primary value of those bikes outside of originality is condition. A single speed Stingray in that kind of shape (complete restoration required) is about $50-90. There MIGHT be someone willing to pay more but don't be surprised if that's all it brings.

Re: 40 year old Schwinn Stingray Bicycle

Looking at this bike makes me feel old ;~), they were all the rage when I was about 12, I wanted one in the worst way, but my parents bought me a "3 speed English racer" instead. While the Stingrays were "Cool" I always left them in the dust. Today I see the single speed models in the rough go for under $100.00, the multispeed models go for quite a bit more.
