about a bowl

By Shio11, 20 May, 2011
Description

The other day I bought this interesting glass bowl, but I don't know anything about it. I hope someone can help answer my questions:

  1. Is the splotch on the bottom (circled in the photo) from glass blowing? Or something else?
  2. Could the bowl be crystal? (It does have a nice long 'ring' when I tap on it.)
  3. Is it properly called 'art glass'? Or something else?
  4. Would it be used to hold fruit/candy? Or something else?
  5. How is the color to be described -- rose/cranberry/ruby/amethyst?
  6. Is the shape 'footed'/'pedestal/"comporte'? Or something else?
  7. What time frame is it from -- '50s?
  8. Where is it probably from?
  9. Are the flowers hand painted?
  10. Is it 22k gold painted on the rim, etc.?
  11. Is the bowl noteworthy in any way?
  12. Is it possibly missing a lid?
  13. What would be its estimated re-sale value?
