African hand carved wooden bowl

This is a large hand carved wooden bowl. I've been told that it was made in Africa and bought there while vacationing.

The bowl weights 3 lbs. and 15 ounces. It is approx. 16 1/2" tall with wooden lid on top, and without it is 10 3/4" tall. The lid knob handle is free of carvings and is 4" tall made of all wood. Bowl depth approx. 7". The hand carvings are of flowers and vine. There are two carved flowers on the main bowl they are slightly different than each other. Flower number one, center measures 4" x 3.5" approx. flower number center 3.5"x 3.5".  The base that the bowl sits on is wood and no carvings. I cannot find any markings on the bowl.
