AI Appraisal
Description
Absolutely beautiful and extremely rare, hand carved wood, solid brass accents, and steel (scissor blades), this piece is well over 100 years old and is believed to trace back to colonies from France/Belgium. Its a multifuntional took that consists of, a letter opener, scissor, ruler, and I believe the box itself is meant to be used as a paperweight.
I cannot locate any type of symbol or marking to aid in identification, but there is a small piece of brass missing (which I do think I still have packed away, so I will work on locating that) which might hold more clues ???
Its truly an awesome little piece because you can keep it at home or in the office and everyone who sees it is intrigued.
**The brass can be polished very nicely, but I left it a bit tarnished, so as not to disturb the integrity of the natural aging process.
