Antique Primavesi Plate

By Miura, 9 August, 2007
Description

Antique plate by F. Primavesi & Sons possibly from mid 19th Century. It shows an oriental scenery in high detail as seen in the pic.

The back has a coat of arms and underneath it is "F. Primavesi & Sons, Swansea & London". Measures 15" x 12" and weighs about 3 lbs.

I'd like to know more about this plate such as when it was made, rarity, value, etc. Thanks.

The company was an importer,

The company was an importer, the bulk of their sales were hardware, toys and ships' instruments, but it was with the resale of pottery that the family is best known . The F. Primavesi, and Sons marks were used after about 1850, most of their pottery was made in Wales and Staffordshire, England, under contract to a variety of potteries. At auction these sell for about $200.00.
