Description
This detialed brooch with it's green stones (may be jade as the stones do not scratch) has a unique vintage Trombone clasp on the back. It has no hallmarks, but acid tests as 18K gold and I don't think it is plated-but haven't done a scratch test yet. I purchased it in a lot with a bunch of other antique jewerly and didn't think to test it because of the discoloration of the metal - which cleaned up using silver polish/dip. I have been researching lately and found that very old gold can actually discolor in a similar fashion. That combined with the Trombone clasp has me concerned that this could actually be solid gold, estate jewelry worth thousands.
