This was given to my mother by a friend. It was actually given to her by her mother. Its cherry wood with an elephant in the middle. Definitley an antique.

Hello, not sure if you're still looking for information as I don't know when this was posted. However, this chair is called an elephant chair and was originally used as exactly as the name says, for riding elephants. Southeast Asian in origin. May I ask what you'd sell it for>
