Brass Mystery T Shaped Object

This item appears to be brass and is hollow and fairly thin.  We're wondering if this may have been a garden tool of some sort.  Our daughter thought it may have been a wine cork extractor but it probably is not rugged enough for that.

If this item is recognizable by anyone we'd sure like to know what it is and what it was used for.
