These tend to date from the 1870's-80's, most were made by small furniture mills located along the eastern seaboard of the USA and in Ontario, Canada. The cane setting often wore out and was replaced with upholstered seating. These sold well during the 1980's, but demand for Victorian furniture has been in severe decline since then.
