1820–1916 (according to ND History text)
Poor Wolf/Lean Wolf was born on the Knife River in the middle of the three Hidatsa villages. He was raised in the Awaxawi Village at the mouth of the Missouri River. His father’s name was Buffalo Hide Tent, and his uncle was chief “Road Maker” Adihidish. He was the second chief of the Hidatsa village.
American Indian Chiefs Red Man Tobacco - 1952Prince Albert Tobacco Advertisement Poster Depicting Chief Lean-Wolf check it out, same as yours.
(can't tell if its a print or water color painting..) more more more photos, I can't say this any other way. NOBODY can tell what you have unless we have lots of close ups and back, front, side, anything. Paintings will have brush strokes, prints will have Dots like a news paper. Lithos have diff type dots. you need a loop. I think ist cool you have the picture of the Chief thats on the Tabacco can,and poster.. If it's a painting, you have something good. FYI DO NOT clean it of try and repair the frame yet. OK?
