I am inquiring on a desk that Im considering on buying for 100.00. I would like to see if I could get some background on if the desk has any sort of value to it. If it is in fact worth 100.00 or not.
This is an editor's desk, with a typewriter well in the middle. The typewriter was mounted into the well, and was rolled down and hidden when not in use, leaving the desk top open for paperwork and editing of hardcopy, I own one very similar to yours that came from the Oakland Tribune newspaper building many years ago. I think $100 is a good value if you plan to use the desk, although it looks like the desktop needs refinishing. At one time I had an old Underwood typewriter mounted in the well, and later mounted small electrics in the same space. It was nice to have a hiding place for that homely machine.
