Eggshell Hand Painted Japanese or Chinese Tea Set

Description

Vintage Japanese Tea Set - made of very delicate (believed to be) porcelain that is eggshell thin.  The pieces appear to be hand painted with bird and flowering bushes on the scenery. Hand painted gold  along the rim of the tea cup (inside and out) with an intricate pattern; and there are five gold stars hand painted down the handle.   Two unidentified red oriental markings are located on the base of the tea cup.

Grandparents handed this tea set down to us. Grandmother told me the pieces were hand painted and the set was purchased by grandfather while he was in the service over seas. She claimed the red markings indicated the pieces were valuable because of the era they were purchased.
