A good friend who passed away a few years ago left this to me and there was nothing more that came with it other than a black stand for the sculpture to rest on. My good friend lived in Colorado and claimed to have known many people through connections. She had claimed that her and some close friends used to go to auction houses and gather collectibles. So it could be possible she had obtained this sculpture through an auction house.
I'm not sure what kind of stone it is made of. I was thinking maybe it could be marble or alabastar but I don't know. There is a signature on the bottom but I can't make it out. The signature and name of the sculpture were written with a pencil and has faded a bit. I am hoping that maybe someone with experience would be able to help decipher the text on the bottom of the sculpture. I believe though the possible year written on the bottom says 12/93 (December, 1993).
Would someone be able to please help find out anything about this sculpture? Such as value, type of stone, back history, sculptor name, etc...?
Re: Female Torso Sculpture
Would someone be able to help with this item please?
Re: Female Torso Sculpture
Items like this really require a physical appraisal, I'd suggest contacting an auction house in your area for a referral.
Re: Female Torso Sculpture
I had considered that but all of the auction houses around this town require a fee to look at the item. I was hoping maybe someone here, with sculpture knowledge of some kind, would be able to drop some hints about the item. Thank you though for your response though :).
Re: Female Torso Sculpture
Sometimes it's worth the cost to pay a fee, it would be terrible to sell it only to find out later it was worth far more than you got for it.
Re: Female Torso Sculpture
Yeah I know, it's just I don't have the money to pay for it to be looked at. :/ I'm not selling it yet though, at least not until I find out a value for it first.
