Japanese figurines

By Ninesy, 4 October, 2014
Description

We bought this at a garage sale and really know nothing at all about it. We just liked the look of it. There are seven male figures attached to a wooden stand. Very detailed and look to be hand sculpted. Two are playing some kind of board game, one has a stringed instrument. One looks to be sipping from a cup. One is writing or painting. There is some writing on the underside of one of the tables but it is so small that I can not get a picture of it and I believe it is in japanese. Any information on what these guys are would be a great help. Thank you for your time.

Re: Japanese figurines

Hi,

What you have here are Chinese mud figures or "Chinese Mud Man Figures". They are relatively common but since I can not tell their age I can not give you a value.

You can find out more if you visit these websites: http://gaukartifact.com/2013/03/07/mud-man-figures-of-china/

Good luck!
