By robobob925, 7 December, 2014
Description

Dear, Sirs

We had this Eagle was appraised about 20 years ago at around

$3,000USD was this an accurate valuation? If so where can we sell

 this item?

Eagle from the John Wanamaker Collection of the 1860's

The John Wanamaker "Eagle" is in perfect condition.

The Wanamaker Eagle stands approximately 18" high with a body

circumference of 18". And the base is about 24" in circumference.

For over 150 years this Eagle has been in possession of the

descendants of Nathan Brown. As a former business partner of John

Wanamaker, Nathan Brown aquired the Eagle in the post Civil War period

of the 1860's from John Wanamaker in Philadelphia, Penn.

The Eagle was then handed down to Jay Brown, (born in 1879) Then to

Kenneth Brown, (born in 1915), then to Robert Brown and Donn Brown,

(1945 and 1949) respectively.

The sculptor's initials are on the left side of the base and are A C with the top of  the C   extending  out about twice as far as the bottom of the C

We are sending tis query to several auction houses and antiquity

dealers and we are very anxious to hear from you.

Sincerely  Yours, Robert and Donn Brown
