Marble Roman Bust..."Alexander the Great / 19th century French onyx/bronze gilded pedestal

By Layton465, 8 February, 2017
Description

This pedestal was owned by my grandmother, a socialite, who resided in Europe in the 1950's is where these two items are believed to have been purchased. She lived there for quite some time before moving to the states where she would plant her roots in Tiburon, California......which is located in Marin County where I was raised.. I have several items which I will be wanting appraisels on but are in different categories. She had traveled all over the world, buying beautiful pieces to show in her home. Unfortunately, It is unknown to me the exact region these items were purchased or from whom they were purchased. I have included the dimensions and descriptions as best I could.

The Marble Bust: Identity unknown, owever...I've been told its " Alexander the Great".

The pedastel is believed to be 19th century and the bust...I'm really not sure?
Weight
The bust must weigh at least 70 lbs. and the pedestal must weigh close to the same. Both are very, very heavy. I'm a pretty strong guy and I struggle with trying to lift the bust.

What little history I know of these items are explained in the description. Thank you

Re: Marble Roman Bust..."Alexander the Great / 19th century...

I actually do want to sell the items but I want to wait for the appraisel before making any decisions.

Thank you for your time and effort on this. Most appreciated.
